Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month raises awareness of children lost to stillbirth, miscarriage, or SIDS. Although it is difficult to know the real number, we know that tens of thousands of families across our nation, and here in Ohio, grieve the loss of a baby each year. While the statistics are sad and frustrating, we feel it’s important that they are shared so that parents who have lost children know they are seen and not alone:
One in four women will lose an infant during pregnancy, birth, or infancy.
Today, 70 sets of parents will give birth to a baby who dies in utero.
1 in 160 pregnancies results in stillbirth.
1 in 10 obstetricians contemplates leaving the profession after being devastated by a stillbirth.
